We enjoyed our meals, and really enjoyed that they accommodated our need for gluten free breads and rolls. The Reuben was amazing, and the seafood chowder was absolutely delicious. Even had a gluten free chocolate cake that was heavenly.A must for visitors to Nova Scotia.
Lovely atmosphere. Steak, salmon, side dishes and chocolate bread pudding were just delicious. Be sure to check out their gourmet food shop and book Shop.
Having eaten at the Flying Apron last summer with a co-worker, I had to spread the joy of this hidden gem! I took my mother on Wednesday evening on our way to Wolfville, and once again it was fantastic. We both had the haddock burgers, and they were absolutely amazing! The fish was so tender and flavourful, and came with a side of seasoned fries and HOMEMADE ketchup. The Flying Apron is a beautiful restaurant, as well as an inn - BUT, they also offer amazing cooking classes every so often, have a small art gallery on site, and a library/cozy seating area for relaxing! Hope to be back again soon, can't get enough of it! Did I mention the Flying Apron is also the restaurant who offers dining on the ocean floor at Burntcoat Head throughout the summer? Check it out, it's a once in a life-time experience you can only get in Nova Scotia!
We were driving along Nova Scotia's scenic "Noel shore" and enjoying the gorgeous views of the Minas Basin - home to the highest tides in the world - when we decided to stop for lunch. We came upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We were positively thrilled with the meal. The food is fresh, locally-sourced, and delicious. It was Sunday brunch so my Mother had French toast smothered in fresh strawberries and maple syrup while my wife and I enjoyed large bowls of absolutely fabulous fish chowder. We had local wine, beer and cider drinks to accompany the meal. It was all very surprising to find such a sophisticated and upscale restaurant located so far off the beaten path. We would recommend that people who are travelling on 101 and passing through Windsor take the 20 minute or so drive out to Summerville and have a meal at this wonderful spot. If you have more time (and I wish we had), you could also enroll in one of their residential cooking classes that reflect local products and themes (e.g., seafood!). There are rooms available at the establishment for these courses. In short, this was a real 'find' for us and we will return there whenever we're in the area.
