Midweek dinner was not very crowded. Waitress was attentive and helpful re: portion sizes etc… Good quality food. Nice ambiance.
Three of us ordered the pot roast dinner and one fish and chips. All excellent and great portions. No salt and pepper on the table. Had to get up to ask someone for sweetener for coffee although creamer was on the table. Very loud table next to us. In the past we were usually seated in the upstairs room. The Tavern has more ambiance but upstairs is less noisy.
I have visited numerous times over the years and I was truly disappointed and was so looking forward to my lunch. I ordered pot roast and it arrived well done and cold,, even the extra gravy was slightly warm. Our server was wonderful and apologetic but it was not enough to warm our hearts. Hope this was just an off day as it was the first unpleasant visit we had.
Well prepared American cuisine. Deserts are quite good and prepared in their on-site bakery. Good service and ambience on Old Tap Room. Tavern restaurant is a bit more crowded and noisy so if its quiet you want dine in the smaller upstairs Tap room. A reservation is a must. Pricing is moderate, portions are average depending on meal. Publick House is known for its Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Half chicken dish is a great meal, and value. If you like New England style cooking, you will enjoy this place.
