I had the beef which was lovely and tender, with roasters, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, and one parsnip (although I wish there were more). The meal was saved by plenty of additional vegetables and roasters brought out in help-yourself dishes along with gravy boats. We were in a party of 30 and the restaurant coped very well. My daughters had the chicken, which was also tender and plentiful. I gave it a 4-star rating because the flat coke was a bit disappointing. I thought it was from a bottle, not on tap (I had a Haze which was fine, but my wife had the flat coke). However, I heard that the restaurant has recently changed ownership, so they may be in the process of upgrading their bottled drinks. It used to be more of a pub for drinkers, but now they are focusing more on being a foodie establishment. Despite the minor issue with the coke, the food was excellent and we will definitely be returning.
Went for a Sunday roast and unfortunately it started bad and only went down hill from there. We arrived and instead of been taken to the table we were pointed at a table in the corner after being told we hadn’t booked. The pub was really cold and the bar incredibly understocked, no juice just massive bottles of squash and no cola on tap. There was no menus but were told there was a choice of two meats. We ordered the roasts and when they arrived the plates were cold and the carrots were tinned and cold and the broccoli was frozen and mushy. The potoatoes also appeared to be frozen. By the time they were served most of the food was stone cold. There were no prices displayed but for 6 roasts a glass of wine and 2 j20’s it totalled £90. So around £13 each for frozen and tinned vegetables is Definitely not worth it and would not come back again.
Total mix up on a pre-ordered menu so the 6 of us were unable to taste any food which spoilt our Christmas party so we went next door to the chippy. I had travelled 45 miles to get there! Atmosphere: 3
The Mother's Day roast at this restaurant was fantastic. However, there was no need to include watercress on the roast. The service was excellent, rating a 5 out of 5. We dined in for lunch and the atmosphere was also a 5 out of 5. The price per person was £80-90. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere all received top marks.
I wish the right people would take over this pub...it's closed once more! Food quality is rated 1, service is rated 3, and atmosphere is rated 2.
