Reuben sandwich was delicious. Just too bad the restaurant was so cold that the food didn't stay warm for a while. Cute little place definitely worth going to once
This was a great place to grab a late lunch. I told my wife that we’ll start taking a Saturday or Sunday and try different restaurants in OK. We chose the Rock Cafe as our destination. It was an hour drive from Oklahoma City and upon arrival we parked but couldn’t really locate the entrance. Once we did we were greeted and seated immediately. There were several open tables and it appeared that we may have missed the lunch crowd. A delightful server (Alyssa no clue if we spelled her name right) guided us through the menu and made great suggestions. She checked on us periodically and at one point in time provided history regarding the restaurant. Very informative! We decided on Fried Pickles as an appetizer they were very good. Both of us decided on the Chicken Fried Steak. It was good but to be perfectly honest a steak knife would have worked better than a butter knife. The mashed potatoes were real, the okra fired nice and crispy. I was pleasantly surprised that I could order dessert. Typically I don’t but this time I managed to save room. We choose the Peach Cobbler to split. I found it to be overly sweet and although we ate it all it was not my favorite. After we finished eating we made a short walk to the Ed Smalley Centennial Park. A very nice tribute till those who served in the Armed Forces.
We came on a Thursday evening around 5pm. It wasn't busy at all. The food was out of this world. My cheeseburger was huge and my friend's bacon cheeseburger was even bigger, with melty cheese rolling off the edges and caramelized bacon bits. We also recommend the cowboy candy appetizer. The service was punctual, friendly, and accurate. The atmosphere has fun Route 66 vibes. Even though it was rebuilt from the 1939 original, it's still clean and laid back with good people good food.
Sweetest employees. Lunch was promptly served, even though it was a full house. The cherry fried pie was amazing, best I've ever had. Will absolutely drive to out to Stroud just to eat here again!
