Annex Room Restaurant - Stratford

Have been back and will be back. Staff is great. On last visit tried some of the apps Must try the spring rolls.... Looks like the have increased the wine menu and have great local beers on tap. The burger at lunch was great. This is a must try..place it is off the beaten path in downtown.

This used to be our go-to restaurant in Stratford, but it's been heading downhill for a while. Last year, after a mediocre experience (poor service, little menu choice, overcooked fish), we decided to give it a miss. But sentimentally we came back this year for one more visit. It appears to be under different management (which it needed), but it doesn't seem to be sure of which direction to take. The dinner main courses have an Asian inflection, but they're uninspired and uninspiring; the veal was quite good, the chicken I had was a mistake. The prices are too high for what you get, even by Stratford standards.

This used to be my go to lunch place my 1st day in Stratford. No more... adult pizza is no longer available-the soups were bland-and $12 for a kids pizza? Really? I should have asked but I never thought dough and cheese could cost so much...

We dined in the Annex Room in July during the first of our two visits to the Stratford Festival this year. I was not happy with the salmon served to me, but I ate it anyway, and told the server aout my reaction. The server offered to cancel the charges for the meal, which I thought was a handsome reaction, but we declined and paid our bill. We were assured that if we returned the chef would be prepared to consult and prepare the food as requested. During our second visit in August we dined there again. I got the impression that our original server recognized us. A different server said they were prepared to prepared our food to our satisfaction. They did so! I really enjoyed my meal and we shall return next year.

Since we were taking our 10 year old granddaughter out for dinner, we based our decision on the Stratford Visitors Guide Book which indicated that this place offered excellent stone oven thin crust pizza. Well, after we had reserved and arrived we were informed that the new owners had decided NOT to offer their pizzas for dinner. A very disappointing start to our evening! We left to find a more accommodating dining establishment.
