At the end of a long drive from Glasgow Airport (2hrs but very pleasant scenery) lies this gem of a former hunting lodge. From the minute you arrive, the attentive staff are on hand to cater for your every need. We stayed in Churchill, which is worth it for the bath alone! Needless to say, there is a wide choice of excellent whisky and the food is outstanding, equal to anything you would find in the best restaurants in Edinburgh. If you like seclusion but don't want to give up the creature comforts, this hotel is the place to head to.
Visited in March 2023. We made a quick visit while in the area as we were thinking about booking a few nights in the future. Setting is fantastic. We only had a scone with a cup of tea, and the quality was very good. Staff were the least engaging of any of the places we visited in the area. Not rude in any way, just stand offish. We decided not to book for the future. However, I would recommend calling in for a cup of tea and a snack. Place has great history.
Recently stayed for 3 nights in April and it was absolutely fabulous. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Beautiful location quiet and peaceful. Rooms very comfortable and well appointed with high quality products. will definitely be back Mark Ailsa (Australia)
Surely one of the best hotels in the UK. The hotel is a former Victorian shooting lodge and has all the charm and history one would expect for such a building. The views of the sea are phenomenal and it's lovely to be able to hear no cars thanks to its remote location. It has it's own private beach for guests to use. The staff are incredibly helpful. The chefs are Michelin starred, the food is amazing. The rooms are comfortable and charming. We stayed for 2 nights and had the 5 course dinner both nights at the hotel. The chef uses local, seasonal ingredients which really comes across. We couldn't fault a thing. Wonderful taste of British charm and style.
