The Travellers Rest - Stoke-on-Trent

After a couple of years away due to COVID, I finally returned to the restaurant and was excited to enjoy a meal with my family. We booked a table for six, and it was wonderful to see the restaurant thriving and busy during these unusual times. The staff were very kind and accommodating. We had a lovely three-course meal, although I forgot to take photos of all the dishes—only managed to snap a picture of one starter. We tried a few different appetizers, including the soup with tagliatelle, which was delicious, along with a broccoli and garlic mushroom dish. For the main course, we had the "Sonntag Brat Trio," featuring turkey and braised steak. To finish off the meal, we indulged in the treacle pudding for dessert. Overall, it was a great experience!

However, my friend who ordered the salmon and the broccoli and Stilton soup was less impressed. She found the soup too dense, saying it stuck to her lips when she tried it. I visited at 2 PM on Saturday, and it was still quite busy, so I recommend making a reservation. The atmosphere was pleasant, although I'm not sure if that was just due to the restaurant being newly reopened. Unfortunately, the service could definitely be improved. While the staff was friendly, they served our coffee and cutlery and then left them in a corner of our table (we had a table for six), which made it awkward for us to reach. We also waited a long time to receive the dessert menu after asking for it, and then it took quite a while for someone to come back and take our dessert orders. Overall, the food was great, but the service left something to be desired.

I had my first visit for lunch at this restaurant. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. I ordered the steak baguette, and the meat was delicious while the bread was soft. The chips and gravy were also tasty. I noticed that other dishes, like the fish cake and Jäger schnitzel, looked beautiful and were highly recommended by other patrons. While some prices may be on the higher side, the food was freshly prepared and very satisfying.

We went here on a Thursday night good five pm because they stopped eating for a part of the afternoon I had lammschaft with ash and veg joan had cod gordon’s with muddy heaps and chips

We had a really nice family meal here last week. Great food and service in a friendly and relaxed environment. We would recommend to others for sure.
