Nena's Mexican Cuisine - Stockton

I visited the restaurant on the Friday before Christmas and ordered a bowl of sauce that comes with a meal, so I could dip the tortillas in it. I wasn't very hungry, just looking for a light snack. However, I was only allowed to buy two tortillas because they claimed they didn't have enough, even though they make them fresh to order. I also ordered a beer. They should be willing to sell me as many tortillas as I want, provided I'm willing to pay for them. I don't plan to eat here again.

The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. Even the manager checked in with me to ask if everything was to my liking during my meal. They clearly understand the basics of good restaurant service. I was impressed that they make their own tortillas, and you can watch them do it, adding an element of craftsmanship to the dining experience. The atmosphere feels genuinely family-oriented, with spacious tables for larger families that are not cramped together. There's also plenty of parking available in the front, back, and side of the restaurant, which is conveniently located by the water. I truly enjoyed my experience here and hope they continue to thrive. One small downside is that they don’t offer takeout from the back dock; you have to enter through the front and place your order with either the bartender or the waitstaff before they hand it to you. It seems like a missed opportunity for convenience. Kid-friendliness: There’s plenty of room for children to sit comfortably at tables, and they provide high chairs, making it a very family-friendly environment.

My experience would have been much better if the homeless woman with mental health issues hadn’t been allowed to walk around and disturb customers, even reaching into their plates to take food. It was my first time at the restaurant, and I brought a friend to celebrate her birthday. The food was good, but the atmosphere was far from relaxing. Overall, I'd rate the food 4 out of 5.

I was super excited about trying place but very disappointed with the food and service. One person takes the drink order, and then serves it to u. And another person takes ur order. The person that took the order didn't come for a very very long time. I would say a good 25-30 minutes. And it really was not that busy. Once we got our food it was not flavored very well. I expected more but it was disappointing. The only thing that was exceptional were the drinks and alcohol. There isn't much more I can say about this place. I don't feel as though I will go back unless it's just for drinks. But I'm a drink and eat kinda guy.

Fantastic Mexican food! Fresh tortillas that you can watch being made. Authentic flavor north of the border. This location was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad they did! 100% spot on!Friendly staff and very quick service. No issues. I will definitely stop again when I'm in the Stockton area.
