The Old Rectory is a large restaurant connected to a travel inn on Churchgate, at the top of the market in Stockport. The decor of this place is wonderful, with wooden beams and rooms to have a drink in that resemble a sitting room at home, with big fireplaces and pictures hanging on the wall, and big comfy chairs. The actual restaurant is set in a large conservatory, and there are a few tables outside (but you can't smoke there, there is a separate smoking area outside at the front. They have an extensive menu, with daily specials and vegetarian options, and the majority of the main meals are buy one get one free, which makes it even more better value for money. The staff are nice and friendly, and go out of their way to help you. A meal for 3, which included a large combo starter, 2 mixed grills and 1 steak and ale pie, chips and veg, and drinks cost me £40 (when you buy 3 meals, the cheapest is free . They apparently do a fantastic sunday roast with all the trimmings too, which is bogof, and they have a great kids menu too.
I ordered a Steak, was asked how I liked it,I said Medium, The steak arrived, there was blood on the plate around the Steak, I cut the steak in half to find it not cooked in the middle, I called a waiter, who took it back to the kitchen. The same meal was back to me ten minutes later, the same steak was on the plate, only half of it was returned, I was appalled to find the blood from previousley was still around the veg, Serious Health risk here
