I changed this trophy for Sunday dinner. many, if it were hectic and angry, so we thought it was worth it and it was! we had different appetizers (salumi and crostini) followed by amazing kartoffel tortelli, one must! the meat dishes also seemed great, as well as the spinach/ricotta ravioli. the house wine is also a great trip. if in stia, I recommend this place!
I have eaten at Filetto numerous times over the years. I have also eaten at many other restaurants all over Tuscany. Filetto is the real thing home made and served by friendly cousins Silvia and Paola. Very good tortelli di patate, ravioli, and other...pastas that are all made in house. I love their rich tomatoe sauce. They also serve a variety of roast meats, which are usually great (one time that I ordered the grigliata mista it was super salty, but that has not happened again just a warning for those who don't like much salt). The atmosphere and service is very down home and friendly and it's a great place to eat outside in good weather. All around great, authentic Tuscan trattoria. packed with locals no matter what time of year, so come early or reserve if you want a spot.
Great little eatery on the square, only open from to The food was typical simple Italian food done well. Can find no fault with preparation, flavours, textures or spicing. As it was near the end of their day, they added an order of...affitato to our antipasto at no charge. The service was warm, friendly and excellent. Like any good family run restaurant, it was like sharing a meal in someone's home.
There are probably better gastronomic temples even in this, the Casentino Valley; but we always go back to Filetto First of all is its position in the charming main square of Stia, portico-lined and with the Appenines as a background. Then there is the absolute...lack of pretense: the last time we ordered papardelle sul cinghiale for all three of us and an large earthen pot was placed in the middle of the table. Even with healthy appetites we couldn't possibly have finished the contents! Then it was the turn of roast lamb for me, a skewer of pork for my husband and stewed wild boar cinghiale again for our guest. As a side-dish, I ordered black cabbage, sauteed in oil and garlic, the others white beans which are pretty much a Tuscan staple. Everything was very good but even here we had to resort to doggy bags when no one could manage a clean plate. No problem: my husband made a delicious ragout for the pasta the next day out of the assorted left-overs. Wine, of which we asked for a small bottle, was instead plunked down on the table in an already opened bottle which was about two thirds full. A smile from the waitress and a comment: finish this one off and then we'll see about another This might be a put-off for some but I find it totally acceptable and perfectly suited to the atmosphere of authenticity of the place in general. No room for anything but an espresso at the end of the meal. The bill: each! We'll go back, probably next spring when the road over the Consuma is a lovely and easy drive out of Florence.
