R-Bistro - Steinbach

We have been here a few times before. It was much better then. Last night we got two sandwiches a Ruben and a Beef tonkatsu both were meh. The Ruben featured tough pastrami (and I admit without bitting into it the cook can’t easily tell, but) and very wet sauerkraut (it should at least be drained, but preferably grilled before it gets put on the bread, it wasn’t). The final effect was a soggy tough poor thing. The beef tonkatatsu was thin and tough as well as over done. There was no real resemblance to tonkatsu. And the Maple Srirachai dressing was either too weak to taste or to absent. The salad, fries and sweet potato fries were very good, literally all that saves the food from a worse score. Service was very good until they were told the food was not very good. From there, no apology of any sort. Likely won’t go back, the sight of the buffet set up less than 2 meters from the front door in the path to the bar, registration desk and patio was concerning and as stated, the food not worth having.

I never leave restaurant reviews but this was honestly probably the worst place I’ve ever ate at. The service was so so bad, but that wasn’t even the worst part. It was nothing compared to how bad the food was. Don’t get the broccoli stuffed chicken, it was almost impossible to cut and the vegetables were barely edible. I thought maybe we just went on an off night but looking back at other reviews from literally 2019 they say basically the same thing!!! How is this place still open?

Went for dinner. Wasn’t offered drinks when we arrived or when we were looking at the menu. Menu was very small. Had to ask if they made cheeseburgers. Brought us the lunch menu which had only 1 burger. Ordered it. It was so salty and was clearly a cheap store bought patty. Onions which we’re supposed to be sautéed were raw. Poutine was so salty it wasn’t edible. Told the waitress it terrible and she kind of just laughed and never apologized or offered to make it right. Won’t be back.

The food is excellent and the service is even better. I was so impressed I got married here. Try the salmon, but nothing is bad.

I'm not sure what was worse; the sloppy hot garbage excuse for curry or the clearly past due stinky broccoli stuffed chicken. The fries were cold and the veg included with the entree was basically cold slop. Our waitress Ashley was wonderful about it though as we could hear her on her trips back and forth to the kitchen talking about how she would like to kill people sometimes and how everyone of her tables tonight have been a**holes. Welcome to the Frantz Inn, here's some garbage and some insults. Thanks
