Lisa's Lounge - Statesville

Food was great and staff was amazing. Definitely coming back and I live 45 min away . The food was so good I forgot to take pictures. This place was delicious after all these months. 8/31/22

Had some time to kill while visiting the area and like to try local. I was concerned that there was no one else dining but stuck to my decision.Walking in and looking at the menu, I was a little disappointed in the options but I've learned to ask what else is available. Lisa happily went over the options and I chose the 1/4 fried chicken with collards and Mac and cheese. She did let me know that it would take awhile since she had to prepare the chicken from scratch. Not a problem for me but if you're in a rush, just be aware. She brought drink out to my table as I waited and checked in to see if I needed a refill. It was just under a 20 min wait for plate to be brought out so my expectations were high. I was not disappointed, the chicken was piping hot, nice crunch to the batter but it was light and not overwhelming. The Mac and cheese wasn't oily and had ample amounts of cheese and was well seasoned. That brings us to the collards. And man were they good. As I told her that day, she reset my standard for what good collards should be. This is impressive as I travel more than half the year and have tried over 50 different versions of collards. They were lightly sweet yet savory, the leaves had a subtle snap when chewed and you could actually taste the greens. All too often collards get overcooked and overpowered with pork, vinegar or salt. This was by far the highlight of the meal. It was served on a bed of yellow rice, nice addition and we'll prepared but not needed in my opinion. I do wish them the best and hope more people take the time to sit and enjoy a well prepared meal. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Statesville.!!

If you have not tried Lisa’s yet, do it now! If you want food that is home cooked, delicious and full of flavor… this is it! I highly suggest the smothered pork chop! My husband says the collard greens are some of the best he’s ever had, and the corn bread is amazing! I purchased extra cornbread to take home, and made a strawberry shortcake for dessert with it! It’s moist with a touch of sweetness, delicious!

It was good home cooking and friendly staff, definitely coming back in the future.
