Love their pizza. The staff are very friendly. A must try for everyone.
This evening Freddie Knows Food motored to the city of Statesboro, Georgia, home to Georgia Southern University and one of my all time favorite restaurants, Holiday Pizza. Holiday Pizza is a longtime fixture in the Statesboro restaurant scene, and with good reason. The food is good, really good. Holiday Pizza is family owned and that personal touch can be found in every item on the menu. Although the name says pizza, there is so much more to this restaurant than the pizza. In a bow to the family's Greek ancestry, entrees such as Spanakopita, Greek shrimp, and Hellenic chicken are on the menu as well as appetizers such as grape leaves, stuffed peppers, and a Greek salad. The menu isnt large, but the flavor certainly is. This evening I asked if anything was offered as a special. To my delight, I was told that they had moussaka. Moussaka is a delicious, rich dish that typically contains eggplant and potatoes, and a hearty sauce of spices and seasoned ground beef. Of course, I just had to have the moussaka, so I ordered that as my entrée along with a house salad. The house salad at Holiday has always been a favorite of mine. Simple, yet delicious, I always order it with the made in house dressing, which is legendary. The moussaka was rich and delicious, and the portion was almost more than I could consume. Served with garlic bread, it was a most excellent meal. For dessert, I opted for the baklava. The baklava was absolutely magnificent, just as I remembered it from years gone by. Although I didn't order a pizza on this visit, the pizza at Holiday has a decidedly Hellenic flavor which makes it delightfully different than the basic run of the mill pizza served at most restaurants. The prices are very reasonable and the service was outstanding. In college towns, restaurants come and go, and chain restaurants seem to dominate the scene, but Holiday Pizza has been a fixture in Statesboro for many years. Plan a visit to Holiday Pizza soon, and you will discover why it has outlived most of the competition. Visit the restaurant's Facebook or website for days and hours of operation and a peek at the menu.
People, be on the lookout for their Greek special called pasticcio. It is SO good and the best I’ve ever had!!! You can’t go wrong with their house dressing, be it regular or creamy style. The yummy dill in it was my fav. Dip your breadstick in it, have it on the house salad, or just eat it by the spoonful. Buy a mason jar of it to go so thankful to have this establishment in town!
This place has amazing food at very reasonable prices! Great people serve you too! I highly recommend it here
