China Chalet - Staten Island

I only ordered from this restaurant for Mother's Day and I am extremely disappointed. The quality of the food has declined significantly since my last visit. Everything was tasteless and to make matters worse, I had recommended this place to a friend earlier in the day only to find out that the prices have skyrocketed. I will not be ordering from here again.

The dining experience at this restaurant was satisfactory, although not exceptional. I would consider ordering takeout from here if Empire Szechuan was not nearby. Unfortunately, the service was quite poor. I have seen similar complaints in other reviews, and I must agree that at least one of their waiters was exceptionally rude. On a Thursday night with multiple tables occupied, this particular waiter seemed overwhelmed and treated each table with disrespect. His attitude was unpleasant and dismissive. For example, when my 8-year-old daughter asked about the drink options, he simply gestured towards the bar and said he would return later. Despite the subpar service, I still left a 20% tip due to the current challenging circumstances. However, the service ultimately soured my experience, and I would not return to this restaurant in the future. For a great Chinese dining experience on Staten Island, I recommend visiting Jade Island near the shopping center. They have been in business for 40 years and consistently provide excellent service and food.

The restaurant was good when the original owner was in charge, but after he left, the quality of the place did not improve. We visited on a late Saturday afternoon and noticed that all the tables were empty. The atmosphere felt neglected and uncared for. When my son made a special request, the waiter was very rude and seemed to mutter curses under his breath whenever he came to our table. It was clear that he had something against my son for some reason. My son was so bothered by the server's behavior that he had to leave without eating. I finished my meal, paid the bill, and the waiter started yelling in Chinese. It was a terrible experience. When we tried to speak to the manager about it, we were met with no resolution. We decided right then that we would never return to this restaurant. I even plan to report them for shady practices.

Eating was absolutely delicious! in any case will be ordered again.
