Max Of Eastman Place - St Roch

Our dinner experience was fabulous! The appetizers and mains were delicious but the vanilla crème brûlée was outstanding. Our server, Jennifer, was friendly, attentive and professional.

We enjoyed our time at the Max of Eastman, our server was wonderful and the rest of the staff made our experience even better. However, the location of the restaurant was not what we were expecting, and the food and cocktails didn't meet our expectations either. The caesar salad, filet, fries, and special were delicious, but the french onion soup and cocktails were not delivered as they were described. Our night came to an end when we saw a mouse scatter across the floor of the restaurant. We personally would not go back for the food, but would go back only for the staff.

Lucky again to get Morgan as server. Pork shank special du jour and roast chicken standard entrees were excellent, as was shared enough for two scallops appetizer. Place ran like an efficient machine despite high volume. A house white (a Bordeaux) was about 2.25x marked up from retail.

Great cocktails to begin. 5 of us passed them around the table so all could sample. Creative and delicious. Appetizers were foise gras (hard to find these days) clams and chorizo in a wine butter sauce, steak tartar and beet salad. All were flavorful and pleasing to the palate. Dinners consisted of duck breast, wagyu beef and broccoli and a seafood pasta dish. Can't say enough about how well prepared and delicious they all were. Finished with some creme brulee, apple crumble and strawberry rhubarb pie. What a great ending to a great meal. Corey, our server, was extremely helpful in descriptions and choices. Very personable and friendly. Made dinner that much more enjoyable.

Max has a fabulous deal for lunch right now. It is $15 for one of four dishes specially prepared for this promotion. I would have eaten any (all? of them, but chose the Shakshouka. It was delicious. Although the eggs were slightly more cooked than I generally prefer, the sauce was perfect just the right balance of peppers, onions, and tomatoes. Splurged on budino that was smooth and lovely with strawberries and nuts on top. The service was, as usual, impeccable.
