Painted Pony - St. George

The reservation was respected and we were seated promptly, and the food was outstanding.

The food was excellent, and while the outdoor seating was pleasant, the exhaust fumes from cars starting in the parking lot were a bit off-putting. The directions to the restaurant were somewhat unclear, but the hostess was very welcoming, and we truly enjoyed the meal.

I dined at the Painted Pony twice last week while traveling to and from the Utah Shakespeare Festival, and it remains one of my all-time favorite restaurants! Everything I tried was excellent, but I must highlight the Heirloom Tomato Salad, which was absolutely outstanding, as well as the Carrot Jalapeño Soup.

Host was not friendly whatsoever. Sat us at our seats- several open tables , we said can we sit inside and his reply was we’re busy in a. Wry rude manner.

We’ve dined at Painted Pony for decades. The food was good but the menu never changed and the service was inconsistent. The cooks sometimes made ordinary dishes very unhealthy, like cooking mashed potatoes in duck fat, so we avoided taking anyone with a restricted diet there for fear of undisclosed levels of salt and fat. We are thrilled with the excellent service and hospitality and look forward to a more diverse and interesting menu with some heart healthy choices under the new owners.
