Service is always great...greeters at door, manager came out to say hello, wait staff always giving you something (hot towel, water, fresh plates) or taking something away (dirty dishes, soiled napkins). Great selection of foods...breads, soups, many salads, freshly made sushis, lots of hot dishes that are "Chinese inspired" but also lots that are "North American" (like corn and potatoes and prime rib and pizza and stuff). Tons of desserts too, from bars, squares, pies, jellos, custards, cookies, ice cream and cotton candy. Even though the kids that were at our table were running around a bit wildly, everyone was really nice...which was kind of them. All in all, I was happy
Huge assortment of both Asian and North American cuisine. Everything is kept fresh with continual replacements of trays, so nothing gets stale, or becomes unavailable. With so many options, every palate should be satisfied, and everything I had was well prepared and enjoyable. If you have never been to a Mandarin: go! If you have been before, you know exactly what I mean. But don't go if you're not very hungry, because you'll want a lot of eating capacity!
I had a hankering for Chinese. Ok, this isn't the cuisine found in Beijing, it's Canadian/Chinese but it's darned good. The salads were fresh and plentiful. THe mussels came from New Zealand! The cold food was cold and the hot was hot. There was a lovely variety of tastes.I do appreciate that the eating areas are separated into rooms so you don't feels it's barn-like. It isn't easy giving one an experience of cozy intimacy when dealing with 150 people at a time, but this place is good.
We had such high hopes of this restaurant. We love this type of food. First impression was great everyone was friendly. We were impressed when they have us a warm napkin to wipe our hands. It took 15 minutes to get a soda. The soup was good but the food on the buffet was just "ok" the salmon with maple was amazing then he lemon chicken was uneatable. The sushi was very dry. Unfortunately we would probably not eat here again.
A thin thread of about 3 inch metal in creme brulee of friend. After a long time a supervisor came and offered coffee but she didn't want it as we were leaving. She could have taken the cost of a coke off bill. The Caesars salad was gross because had 4 times the normal amount of dressing. One friend has a plateful thrown out because it was inedible. The garden salad bowl was virtually empty when I kept checking it. Unfortunately there were no bowls of plain lettuce, romaine, spinach, etc. The hard ice cream was good with lots of variety. The BLT sushi was delicious but then it was empty. I never saw any sweet potato sushi arrive. I attempted to communicate with 4 employees but was virtually unable to understand them. If I say I can't understand them, wish employees would find me someone with better English skills so I can get answer to my questions. I have been to various mandarins and this was my worst experience but we still got plenty of food to eat but we all like green healthy salads and that was missing .
