Smokin D's Bbq - St. Augustine

This restaurant serves the best BBQ in town, hands down. I make sure to visit every time I'm in the area. You can truly taste the love and attention put into their BBQ. I appreciate how the staff is always willing to chat about BBQ while you wait. For me, the brisket is top notch. The datil pepper BBQ sauce was a pleasant surprise that I had never heard of before trying it here. The only reason I didn't give a perfect rating for atmosphere is because it was raining heavily outside, and having a few more indoor tables would have made it easier to enjoy the meal.

I visited this restaurant yesterday. My wife went inside to place our order while I went to the restroom. When I entered, I saw a short bald man behind the counter behaving inappropriately towards my wife. To avoid any confrontation, I decided to leave. When we got back to our place, we realized that some of our food was missing from the bag. The food we did receive was good, but I was disappointed that we didn't receive our entire order. I called the restaurant and they acknowledged the mistake. I suggested to the manager that they should retrain the short bald man to focus on checking orders instead of flirting with customers, as I explained it was too inconvenient to return to the restaurant.

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant since I waited in line for 2 hours on the day the 206 location opened. For the past 2 years, I have been going to the Ponce location because it is close to my job. I have always given rave reviews, but today was not a good experience. I went in to pick up dinner on my way home and asked the manager if they had any special offerings for Veterans Day. He simply replied no. I was surprised and he offered me a free tea, which I declined. While waiting for my order, I found a cell phone that a woman had left behind. We were able to track her down and return it to her. When I paid for my order, the manager pointed out the tip option, but I chose not to leave a tip today, even though I usually leave 25%. The food was still amazing, but I was thoroughly disappointed. Just to add, I am a 76-year-old Navy veteran who is 100% disabled from my service in other government roles.
