Best coffee on 124 street, hands down. The decor and environment is welcoming and calm. Great concept with Salgado Fenwick and the cafe. Love this place!
5 stars for a peerless espresso made on an Izzo lever machine with coffee from Pilot roasters in Toronto. That's all I had, but it was superb. Cool shop too- they sell their t-shirts at Market Collective events in Calgary and I'm proud to say I own a couple. I had no idea about the coffee, which was a most excellent surprise even in a city whose coffee scene is exploding, as Edmonton's is.
The Barking Buffalo lets you sip a direct-trade latte while shopping for a designed-in-house-and-silk-screened-on-site tee/pillow/sweater by Salgado Fenwick in a cosy, eclectic space that features salvaged school assembly chairs, vintage art and not-so-matchy-matchy tables. Also on the menu: housemade granola bars and muffins.
I had a chance to swing by the new Barking Buffalo Cafe last week, a small grab-and-go coffee space paired with local fashion brand Salgado Fenwick. Coffee and fashion all in one space? It’s not an unusual concept but definitely a presentation of two visions bringing more life to the growing 124 Street district.
