To whom it may concern, Tokyo Express in St. Albert, AB has been my go-to spot for sushi takeout for quite some time. I always order the same items: dragon eye rolls, Mexican rolls, and a spicy tuna cone. Recently, I've noticed some changes to these dishes, and unfortunately, they haven't been for the better. Firstly, the dragon eye rolls used to come with a little cup of an amazing sesame dipping sauce, which was the best part of the previously frozen rolls. Now, the sauce is poured directly onto the rolls, and it has changed completely. It’s no longer the delicious sauce I used to enjoy; now it’s some strange orange concoction—perhaps sriracha mayo? Secondly, the Mexican rolls were very disappointing. They contained more than 50% tempura crumbs and were coated with a mystery green sauce that overshadowed any flavor of the spicy tuna. As for the spicy tuna cone, I would love to say it was fantastic, but unfortunately, the cone I paid for was missing from my to-go bag. Dinner is something I take seriously, and this experience has left me disillusioned with Tokyo Express. I hope my feedback can help improve the experience for future customers.
The food was enjoyable, but the situation with the fruit tea was quite annoying. There's a large sign near the checkout that says "FREE fruit tea." When we placed our order, the staff asked if we wanted a fruit tea and pointed to a display filled with ready-to-go options. We decided to take two, and when we saw that our bill was nearly $15 higher than we had anticipated, we realized that the teas weren't free after all—they were $5.99 each. It turns out there are different types of fruit tea. We weren’t the only ones caught off guard; the man in front of us and the woman behind us also fell for the same trick. It seems misleading, as they're not being clear about the costs.
My all-time favorite sushi place! There's not a single item on their menu that I haven't enjoyed. Their Alaskan rolls are absolutely amazing!
Not sure what?s happening at this location. Today I ordered four meals, and something extra. I waited almost 30 minutes, and when I got my food not only was it cold, but the chicken was no where near as crispy and browned as prior visits. The skin was rubbery and barely rendered. Then upon leaving I requested my free fruit tea to be Strawberry. She said to me ?ya ok you can have one?, took a full one out of the fridge, poured maybe half into a different cup, put on a lid and gave it to me without a straw. She gave the impression that she was insulted I asked for my free tea after I used my Tokyo Express card. I have never felt so unwelcome here before. Maybe I?ll go into Edmonton instead?
