The Victoria - St Albans

The pub reopened in March 2020 after a major refurbishment under new management, giving it a more modern vibe as it redefines itself as a premium sports bar. The central bar has been replaced with a stylish bar along the back wall, enhancing the atmosphere. The garden area on the side is well-furnished, allowing patrons to enjoy live sports indoors or outdoors, and there is also a lovely outdoor area at the front. I've visited twice since the renovation and had great experiences on both occasions. It's been a few years since my last visit due to some unfortunate run-ins with previous patrons, but I'm pleased to see that everything seems to have improved significantly.

I entered the bar and wasn't greeted at all. I had ordered a Victoria special burger, chips, and a Pepsi online, but it took 10 minutes to receive my drink. It was also quite annoying that the waitstaff kept adjusting their pants every five minutes. Meanwhile, they were hanging around by the bar and the view board. I didn't inquire about my burger while waiting, but when the food finally arrived, it was quite nice. However, the service from the waiter was lacking. That said, I understand it can't always be perfect. I'm not sure if I would return.

This pub, just a short walk from the train station, is a true gem for anyone who isn't a local. The clientele were incredibly friendly and welcoming right from the entrance, creating a fun atmosphere. The staff at the bar were knowledgeable and skilled at their jobs. The woman who provided us with table service in the fantastic, covered, and heated garden area—complete with several screens for game viewing—was wonderfully inviting and exemplified great hospitality. Be sure to stop by for a pint, especially if there’s a game on!

Heinekin on hahn served just above the freezing in frozen glasses, sublime. the outside area is well placed with stands on a side and sunfall around the back.

A pleasant little pub with a minimalist interior located between the station and the city centre in Victoria Street. Comprehensive range of beers and spirits. Very clean, nice toilets and pleasant staff
