Dickey's Barbecue Pit - Springfield

I was looking for some 'real ' food to eat on my drive back to the coast after staying a couple nights in a hospital with family and used Google and or yelp to search the area. I didn 't expect it to be attached to the mall and was hesitant when I realized that it was, but.. It was freaking delicious! I spilled BBQ in my car on the way home but baby wipes got the color right out and I was able to continue eating. The loaded potato casserole, oh my! I highly recommend.

I'll admit it, I'm from the Northwest so my BBQ standards are probably pretty low. That being said, this place is pretty good. The jalapeno cheddar kielbasa is great! The pulled pork is really good. The jalapeno baked beans are outstanding! Prices are reasonable for BBQ, we got two adult meals and two kids meals for $32, and they all came with a drink. The sweet tea is really sweet, my wife loves it, so it's probably pure sugar, but there's unsweetened tea if you want to cut it. Oh, the BBQ sauces are all good too, especially the spicy one. Service was fast and friendly.

I love this place! I always get their Bacon Cheddar burger with guacamole added and I am never disappointed. Their Mushroom Swiss burger is also very good. I'm always bouncing back and forth between their garlic fries and their truffle fries because they're both so wonderful! The vanilla shake is to-die-for. I can only assume that the rest of their shakes are just as good.

I love their half rack meal. They have a great dry rub and love that you get to choose your own sauce and how much you want. Their mashed potatoes are on point along with all of their sides. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t enjoy free soft serve ice cream after your meal or while you’re waiting for to go orders.

I am currently an employee here at Dickey's barbecue pit, and overall I personally think its a great place! The food is great, the people are very nice and you learn a lot from the experience. I have only been working here since the end of August but, so far has been the best working environment by far. Vernon Collins the owner is very friendly and supportive of his employees as well as his customers, Jennifer is amazing and very helpful and patient, Josh, Noah and the rest of the staff are great. I haven't eaten much here as I don't usually eat until I get home from work (my choice) but what I have tried is fantastic, all meat is smoked on site daily. My mom is a huge fan of the baked potato casserole, smokehouse salads(with chicken) and 1 meat with turkey. Yes, prices are a little on the higher side however you can walk or drive to Carl's Jr. And spend about the same price for two meals but are processed premade frozen patties, and being an old employee at Carl's jr. The manager there does Not care about the health of their customers or employees by which tried serving rotten chicken for chicken tender to customers. Dickeys barbecue is a very clean, happy and friendly environment for family and friends, great catering and great for watching your favorite sports. Kids eat free on Sundays with any adult purchase, free vanilla soft serve!!
