Busy Bee Cafe - Springfield

So my last review was several years ago when I went to this restaurant, and it was bad. Obviously it has been a while since I have been back! The restaurant has improved a thousand percent!! It was recommended to me by the wonderful ladies at Little Black Dress, in the same complex, and I trust their opinion, so I figured I would give it another try. I went in and everyone was friendly, the place was clean. Everyone was happy and enjoys their jobs. You can tell by the quality of service. My soda I was drinking was never, ever empty, and that is a good sign of an attentive waiter. He was even kind enough to recommend a dish for me when I had narrowed it down to two choices. He told me what he does with one to make it that much better, and it was delicious. I now recommend this place to friends, have become a fan on Facebook and have talked to the owners several times, letting them know how much it has improved since my last visit. I am impressed!

I would never eat here again. Once is plenty! It is a very typical greasy spoon restaurant. The service is terrible, your food is served with a begrudging attitude, and the cook is usually missing a couple of teeth and looks like a recovering Methamphetamine addict who hasn 't showered or shaved in several days. The floor looks like it desperately needs to be mopped and disinfected. I also think they are far too expensive for being what they are. There are always a group of creepy old men sitting on the bar stools too, that stare at you when you enter and watch you the entire time you are eating, which makes you feel uncomfortable and unwelcome too. It is like they don 't like anyone new coming in.

When my husband I go for breakfast to the Busy Bee Cafe we take our curly haired grandson. They all love him and his hair. The people here are very pleasant and are always busy. It has always been clean when I have gone there. Sure, the place is old. That is what makes it special to me and my husband. It is like we have stepped back in time to our youth. The food is very good and the service is excellent. I recommend this place to anyone who is down to earth and looking for a little bit of there past. And anyone who enjoys good food.

I really can't recommend this place. The food was gross and very greasy (we could not even eat it). The atmosphere needs updating. The neighborhood is bad. What else can I say you should not spend your time or money here.

Honestly, this is a stereotypical greasy hole-in-the-wall local restaurant. When we were seated, I had to ask that the table be cleaned off, because it was sticky and had crumbs left on it. My food was greasy and cold, especially the hash browns, they looked like they had been cooked at 6AM and were waiting for someone to order at 10AM! They certainly didn't taste much better. The waitress was rude when I asked for anything. She never came back to check on us, just stood behind the counter and talked with the belligerent old locals at the counter, who were there everyday and thought it was the best thing ever, only to sit there all day and stare at people who came in. It was very uncomfortable and gross. The floor didn't look like it had ever seen a mop, and the cook was missing several teeth and hadn't had a shower in several days. I will never go back. It wasn't what I expected. It is sad that someone had actually recommended that place.
