Italian Cafe - Spring

I love him! I had a good time tasting appetizer, enjoy my meal, dive wein. the only part of this review would be the customer service. ariana was the server and she didn't even smile at me and my family. she pretended she didn't even want to serve us. did not check in on us, asked if we need something, our water replenished, just a terrible attitude bad vibes.

Hostess was not welcoming and did not seat us properly. She said you can follow me then said hold on and went into the back and returned with menus then was in the middle of the restaurant while we were at the front still then she waved to us and said this way then we followed her from what felt like a bit of distance then she sat our menus on the table and walked away before we even reached her or sat down. Our waitress took a while to greet us. The bread was not warm and felt like of hard as if it wasn’t fresh. The cheese sticks tasted like sonic or wings n more cheese sticks, fast food quality. Then the Caesar salad was so strong in flavor and dressing. I love Caesar salad but I only ate two or three bites and slid it to the side with the bread. She brought our entrees and left empty handed even though there were plates of food we stacked up indicating we were done. The pizza and baked ziti were both okay, no issues there but at the same time nothing to want more of or write home about. The bill was $42 plus tip for two people. It felt like a waste of time and money for not great food and awful service

So, Italian Cafe was one of our favorites up until just now. They’ve changed their menu pricing and now don’t offer side salads with entrees COMBINED with higher prices. One of our favorite things about Italian Cafe is that it’s a whole meal for one price. Good food, reasonable price, salad and garlic knots included. Well, I don’t know if it’s because of supply chain issues or inflation or both, but they’ve decided that now a side salad is an additional $4.50 instead of increasing their entire menu prices by a percentage to compensate for losses. Not only that, but as of right now, June 11, 2022, their website is under construction so that you can’t see the changes, the restaurant doesn’t even have printed menus with the new changes, the online ordering apps HAVE BEEN updated though with the new ‘salads not included’ pricing, as well as a super limited menu. Lasagna is NOT on the DoorDash menu, as well as any veal dishes and seafood except salmon. Who has an Italian restaurant and doesn’t offer lasagna or baked pasta like manicotti, stuffed shells, RAVIOLI for delivery? We had to call the restaurant to order what we typically do through the app, PLUS an extra $13.50 for side salads because they are no longer included (as a side note, on the DoorDash menu, you can choose to order your side Caesar for $4.50 or $5.50 depending on where you select it). We absolutely LOVE the food here, but I do not appreciating the handling of this business transition to recoup costs. We all understand having to change with the times, but keep your original business model in place and offer complete meals for a reasonable cost and your full menu for delivery options.

Tonight’s experience was not good. Pickup order. Salads are no longer offered with dinners, who has Italian dinner with no salads. Hostess had no idea what olive oil and seasonings meant. She said we have parm and crushed red pepper. I told her ask the kitchen. We have been coming for years but the food didn’t have a lot of taste. I had chicken Alfredo and it’s wasn’t saucy hardly. Husband said his lasagna wasn’t that great either. I don’t eat pasta very often and this was the go to place when we do. I don’t think we will be back. Just the thought of no salad rubbed me wrong. It’s not like they ever gave huge salads, it’s just nice to have with your dinner. Also the portions were really small compared to past

This is one of favorite restaurants! The food is so good, the service is great! Everyone is so friendly and helpful! I recommend Shania for your waitress! Super great! Our kids love her and she always remembers their orders! We can’t recommend Italian Cafe enough!
