When we couldn't decide what to take wine with Dessert, we were offered a tasting of server German wines. Only local wines, but several were worth it.
There are many places to eat in Speyer, but take a walk from Main Street and you will find Cardinal2. The menu has a wide selection as well as the wine list. The food was nice and the service was friendly and professional. The beautiful Lord who served us spoke English, making things easier. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor kitchen and has a very appealing modern but intimate decor.
A real jewel for us food. They speak English, but the food and wine are produced locally. If you have used the best, you will appreciate their attention to detail and dedication to serve you food they are proud of. When we asked if we should have the lamb or the sausage, we were told that the lamb came so fresh that it was frozen in the pastures by the local stream this morning. (Quid pro quo Clarisse. Not vegan friendly, but the lamb was fabulous! You can not order large portions as well as, like all German kitchens, over 10 o'clock. Not even Dessert! Get your order early if you want something sweet! The prices are high, but very fair, because the meal can be noticed. You might want to make a reservation as the place is very limited!
