La Taverna - Spartanburg

I can't believe in all the years I've been coming here, that I haven't left a review. I love coming here, the atmosphere is always nice. I enjoy the relaxing music, the decor and the warm colors of the dining area. The bathrooms can get a little tricky when its busy because they don't have stalls, but you can't beat the privacy either. Food is never disappointing, it always tastes fresh and comes out hot. I was unable to decide on a menu item, so I requested a special preparation for my meal. The chef accommodated my request with an additional charge, which was reasonable given the amazing taste of the dish. It exceeded my expectations. The Chocolate Mousse Cake was exceptionally delicious and light. Overall, the food was outstanding.

While Italian cuisine is not my favorite, I decided to skip the pasta and sauce dishes and instead chose shellfish and vegetables. The mussels were cooked in a tasty white wine butter sauce. Although it could have used more seasoning (herbs, salt, and acid), the sauce was generally good. The vegetables, served as my side dish, were excellent - perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection, and delicious. I was tempted to order a second portion!

The food was amazing. The service was excellent. The ambiance was pleasant. The prices were reasonable.

This place serves some of the best Italian food I have had the pleasure of eating. Excellent service and just a great atmosphere. I had the Saltimabocca Alla Romana , veal with prosciutto and spinach and the wife had Al Salmone. Just a wonderful experience. Please try this place, you will never go back to the big chain restaurant across the street.
