I give praise to West Cornwall Pasty Company. However, I must admit that the pasties at the London Bridge branch are the worst I have ever tasted. I have eaten there 6 times in the past year and they have never been cooked properly. The service is awful and the pasties are not even hot. It is simply the worst. I advise against eating a pasty from this branch. It's best to find another chain or another West Cornwall Pasty Company shop.
This review relates to the outlet on Norwich station. First impressions were a commuter and the gentleman serving discussing how miserable and bad mannered the lady usually serving was. It turns out she was the manager! Anyway, I selected a steak and ale pasty. This was luke warm and had a very unusual taste. Half the pasty was just meat and the other half just vegetable! It was the last one and at the end of the day so I guessed it had been sat there for some time. It was so bad I could only eat half of it even though I was hungry. This did not taste like any pasty I have ever had in Cornwall. Goodness knows what people from Cornwall would have thought of it! Perhaps that's why it appears that the West Cornwall Pasty Company does not actually have any outlets in Cornwall, West or otherwise, the nearest seems to be Plymouth in Devon! The past was not cheap either. Avoid!
I used to love pastys at the end of a night on the way home until they became so overpriced Every year i allow myself one, then instantly regret it. this year was no disappointment. Foul texture, tastless gelatinous goup inside, barely hot and horrifically over priced. I keep wondering what happened to that lovely smell that used to pervade the station on an evening and make me want a pasty. The answer is a total lack of ingredients that have any flavour or quality. I had cheese and onion, there was a fleck of onion, a small bit of potato. No seasoning and no other vegetables. I'm not sure what cheese is traditional, but whatever they used is like that sythetic plastic burger cheese. Think i might leave it a good view years before i risk another one. There must be a lot of really drunk people with no taste buds and far more money than sense , keeping these places open.
I bought a pasty at London Bridge today the counter person did not a) look at me or b) speak to me as she served me. Never mind I thought, a yummy pasty will make everything better! Yuk didn’t know mashed potato is a traditional ingredient but at least there were three lumps of steak. Not a turnip in sight tho’. Awful experience.
One of my regular takeaways this saturday night took my niece for a chai latte after lord mayor show. When we ordered the latte to be made with soya the lovely lady informed us that the ingredients in the mix probably contained milk powder checked. This was such a nice thoughtful thing, Pasty a milky(soya) weak coffee was perfect.
