It was truly the best dining experience I have ever had in London! I went with a friend who was going through a tough time, and we wanted to lift her spirits. We were greeted warmly by a lady named Olga, who guided us to our comfortable seats. The service was excellent, with a refreshing jug of water and a well-organized menu. We quickly decided on starters of Patè, followed by steak and ale pie for me and crispy belly pork for my friend. For dessert, we enjoyed apple tart and sticky toffee pudding. The quality of the food was outstanding, and our waitress Hailey was knowledgeable and friendly. We even tried the South African Chenin Blanc wine recommended by her. We returned and met Daniel, the landlord, who shared more about the pub and left us feeling happy. Thanks to Dan, Olga, Hailey, and the kitchen team for creating such a wonderful experience. I highly recommend trying this place for yourself, as they offer more than just great food - a cozy fireplace, function room, music, and they're dog friendly too. Check it out! Goodbye for now!
Brilliant independent, eclectic mix of food, Great wine list and atmosphere. Don't miss out on a real gem.
The Palmerston used to be a great gastropub, but it has unfortunately declined in quality. After several meals there, I believe we have had our final visit. I was disappointed to see that the £11 or higher glass of wine was served in cheap glasses, similar to those used at Wetherspoons. This cheapened the experience, as did the use of the same glasses for Prosecco. Additionally, the entire pub was uncomfortably cold, which detracted from the overall atmosphere. The food was inconsistent, with some dishes arriving cold and needing to be sent back. Despite these shortcomings, the service was friendly. Over the past 10 years, The Palmerston has undergone several changes, but it is no longer as impressive as it once was.
The atmosphere at the restaurant is lovely, especially on a weeknight when it's not too crowded. However, we were disappointed with the food. The half chicken was cold and the mussels were lukewarm. Nobody checked in on us to ask about our meal, so we were unable to provide feedback. It's a shame!
Rude staff member, trying to be sarcastic when asked some information, not a pleasant experience. manners don't cost anything.
