The Bagel - Southend-on-Sea

Awful customer service. Ignored by all six members of staff whilst they were all engaged in their own conversation. At one point I wondered if I had perished in a road accident outside and had turned into a spooky ghost. The staff all appeared to be looking straight through me. I shall not be returning.

Terrible customer service, walked into 4 staff, 1 was more interested in cleaning the floor, the other 3 all seems to be serving the same person. Only wanted 6 plain bagels to take away. Was told they could only sell filled bagels despite having 2 full baskets of beagles behind them, and having just witnessed the lady in-front of me order the same thing with no problem. When I questioned this and protested a little that customers should all be treated the same I was advised ‘well she’s a friend of the owner’ I was then offered 4 bagels as some kind of consultation prize. Will not be rushing to visit again any time soon!

I arrived at 3:05 and they refused to serve me because they claimed they were already closed, even though their closing time is supposed to be 3:30.

I have been a customer of this bar since they were located at their previous site. The bagels were not always perfect, sometimes doughy and lacking the crispness and shine that a good bagel should have. However, they were usually satisfactory and I would often purchase them. Recently, the quality has declined significantly. The bagels we purchased this weekend were pale, tasteless, and seemed to have been altered in recipe, most likely to cut costs. They appeared to have been quickly boiled and given very little time in the oven. We were unable to eat them and will not be purchasing them again.

Normally this bagel bar is really good however prime lunch time and the main product on the menu that people order is salt beef to be told it’s not going to be available for an hour or so on a Saturday lunch time is just not right. No salad no ham the pure minimum was on the menu. Very disappointing. The option that I took was the Italian chicken and i couldn’t eat it let’s just say that. It will be sad if this carries on.
