I very seldom write reviews, so when I do, it's because I feel compelled to share - either my awe or my disappointment. I really wanted to like this place and I gave them the benefit of the doubt for the uninspiring interior - you cannot judge a book by its cover - it's the food that matters, I convinced my son. We even forgave them, for the fact that they had no Kingfisher beer - in fact no beer at all (except one single Corona); and for the red wine which was 'fresh' from the fridge! The glass & wine was so cold, I had to wrap my napkin around it and unfortunately the restaurant was so cold that it never stood a chance of warming up. The popadoms looked disappointing too, but, despite the excess oil, they were very tasty... and the entrees' weren't that bad either. But the mains were just terrible. The three chicken curries had heat but totally lacked flavour - there was nothing fresh about any of them - pre-made, frozen and reheated in the microwave we suspect - and worst still the rice probably was too - soggy and wet - way too overcooked. Even the bread was unappetising - dry and hard - probably also frozen and reheated. We should have suspected something when there was no wonderful aroma that normally comes wafting from an Indian restaurant - what a waste of a Friday night meal out. We will NOT be returning.
My talented wife amoungst other things was a restaurant critic in the past. I know what I like and my wife knows how to compare. I have to record we have stumbled onto an unknown gem at Indian Whisper at Runaway Bay. It is absolutely superb.
ALWAYS delicious food. Especially love the Lamb Nawabi however have tried heaps over the past decade plus.
Our favourite Indian Restaurant: if you like Indian food, do yourself a favour and try it out. Our favourite is the Lamb Nawabi, but there are many more. Reasonably priced too.
