While the prices are a bit on the higher side, isn’t everything expensive these days? When my order arrived, I was not disappointed; everything tasted wonderful. Overall, I had a great experience! I would definitely return, as long as my budget allows.
The service was disappointing. Before making the payment, I checked the bill and discovered an extra charge for a tip I wasn't aware of (a 20% gratuity). The elderly lady who served us gave us a stern look, and the other lady, who brought our water, was quite rude. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience.
That was the worst Korean restaurant I've ever been to. When we arrived, they handed us the menu without saying a word. After waiting for 15 minutes, we had to go to the counter to place our order ourselves. The food was subpar and overpriced, and it was way too salty! A kimchi pancake for $17? No one bothered to check on us during our visit. I’m giving it 1 star for a reason!
TL;DR the “bad customer service” reviews hold as much water as a pasta strainer and the servers are always courteous as long as you treat them with respect. The food is high quality, hearty and fairly priced and can feed you for a couple days if you get a large portion. I’ve been here quite a few times and the food is always top quality and comes in small but hearty servings if you’re not getting a hot pot or bbq. They’re short staffed as of now so it takes a little bit longer to be served than normal depending on when you visit but that’s in no way their fault. The people saying they had “bad customer service” are most definitely racist, one of them said that the “bad service” was because their server simply didn’t seem to speak much English and the other was because they threw a fit over a “gross looking” ingredient in their kimchi jjigae which was likely just a weird looking piece of kimchi… I have been served by the waiter described in the latter post and she is nothing short of sweet and kind. If you’re kind to the servers they will be kind to you as well. I HIGHLY recommend this place, the prices are very fair for what you get and the hot pots are delicious and can last you a couple days if you get one for just yourself. The food is high quality and the atmosphere is great. The attached image is their goat stew, which is my favourite dish at the restaurant!!
I loved this place. There was a period of time where my family would eat takeout from here once or twice a week, and every special occasion. But since the start of the year, we get an audible sigh over the phone, and are told we can't takeout anymore, or we can't order on that day, or a no no sorry after calling. The website still says takeout available, so if it is not available, it would be nice to know. We've tried for almost four months to order from here, but sadly we have to give up and look for a new regular spot. Very sad, we miss Jang Soo Jang so much. Best Kimchi-jjigae I've ever had.
