The hotel itself was a bit worn out, but clean and basic. The price and location were reasonable. However, the restaurant could use a more cheerful and customer-focused team. Throughout our stay, we didn't see a single smile, hear a greeting (except from the girl at breakfast), or sense any enthusiasm or genuine apologies from the staff. We understand that it's a busy weekend with the Boyzone event happening, but as experienced hospitality workers ourselves, we were disappointed by the lack of hospitality. The staff didn't offer to make a reservation for dinner, and simply informed us that we wouldn't be able to eat until after 8pm if we hadn't reserved a table. There was no suggestion to wait in the bar or any apologies for the inconvenience. The three staff members seemed overwhelmed and unenthusiastic. It is important for a busy hotel to have an efficient and welcoming bar and restaurant staff. We recommend boosting morale, motivating the team, and hiring staff who genuinely enjoy their work. Overall, we were very unimpressed.
I thought a bacon roll would be a good idea before my flight to Alicante. I paid £3.95 for bacon that was overcooked, a stale roll, and no butter. It was a disappointing experience.
During my first evening at the restaurant, I enjoyed a Rump Steak which was delicious but slightly overcooked as I had requested it to be medium rare and it came out more medium. However, on my second visit, I made the mistake of ordering fish which turned out to be a Frozen Fish Fillet in batter with no flavor. As a result, I chose not to dine there again.
Having stayed at the Campanile Hotel I had my evening meal in Le Restaurant. The menu was pretty basic in terms of choice, but adequate for an 'overnighter '.. the food however was tasty, well presented and well prepared! The ambiance of the restaurant area was a little gloomy for my liking.. but that 's purely subjective, objectively it serves it 's purpose as the hotels public area/restaurant/bar and is clean and functional.
The in house restaurant at the Campanile Hotel offers standard evening menu fare: burgers, steaks etc at bargain prices. Don't expect gastronomic marvels at this price my steak was pretty tough but you get the convenience of not taking the car out. The continental breakfast was very generous juice, cereal, cold meat and cheese plus toast. No fresh coffee at my time, but I think I was unlucky.
