We had aleady booked another restaurant...for Saturday. The food was excellent on Friday night the steaks cooked to perfection so we decided to cancel our Saturday booking and eat in the hotel, (Bad move) When we got into the dining room we were told there were no ribeye steaks available. How can a hotel this size run out of steaks on a Saturday evening???? Very disapointing. Could not fault breakfast great idea buffet style. Resaurant staff were brilliant.
Very good menu and service. The staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The restaurant has excellent views over lake Windermere and is in a prime position.
The service was a little slow but the food was worth waiting for.plus we had a beautiful view to look out onto whilst waiting
We were here for a lunch and it was a real pleasure to dine at Belsfield. The roasted pork garnished with cabbage, carrots, roasted potatoes in horseradish sauce was well cooked and the other dishes was absolutely delicious and lots of it. We really enjoy...our meal with the lake view. The hotel is in a fabulous position with fantastic views. Inside, the hotel is certainly old and dated but in a well loved way.
What arrived were overly fatty slices of lamb, drenched in a frothy hollandaise with hardly any rosemary flavor. The dauphinois potatoes were fine, but there was far too much of them compared to the small portion of edible meat, making the overall dish quite bland. The spinach was soggy and left a puddle of water on my plate. My partner ordered the pork belly, which was supposed to come with cauliflower, bacon, and a black pudding bonbon. Unfortunately, none of the advertised accompaniments were present when the dish was served. We spoke to the waiter, who quickly took the dish back to the kitchen, apologized, and informed us that he'd forgotten the black pudding and had run out of cauliflower, though he did not mention the bacon. We ordered a side of glazed carrots, but what we received were simply cut, boiled carrots. They tasted good, but they were not what was described on the menu. A common theme during this meal was the failure to deliver what was promised. It’s disappointing because we had really been looking forward to dining here, but overall, it felt cut short and overpriced. In my opinion, the chef simply lacks the finesse needed to elevate dishes that could have been outstanding. I can't blame the waitstaff for the issues; there's much potential here, but ultimately, it fell short.
