Kendal Arms Lodge - South Lakeland

This was our third visit to Kendal Arms. Our first two visits were a bit disappointing, but that was a long time ago when the restaurant first opened. Yesterday, the food was excellent. We opted for the carvery and even though it was 2pm, there was no indication that we were getting the scraps. The meat was delightful and the serving size was generous. There were plenty of vegetables to choose from and we wished the plate was bigger. The service was good, my only complaint would be that the food could have been hotter, though it wasn't cold, just warm. The pub itself is lovely, the new owners have renovated it nicely and I hope they have a successful future.

I think the restaurant being as good as full on a Wednesday night speaks for itself! what a fab meal! The restaurant is set out well with a nice welcoming feel with pleasant decor too. In the bar end there was comfy seating too. Food was excellent, good portions and very tasty. Well presented and service excellent. Real ale too! They serve till 9pm which is really useful to know. Will definitely be back.

Most of us chose the carvery option. The vegetables were very fresh and tasty, and the turkey was moist and flavorful. However, the beef was extremely tough and required a steak knife to cut through. Overall, our experience was disappointing due to the service, the quality of the food, and the value for the price we paid.

We found that the restaurant was proficient at cooking basic dishes, but my daughter decided to order a Vegetable Curry. However, it resembled more of a soup with excessive cream and only a few vegetables. I ordered a Tangine, but it lacked couscous and had an abundance of tomatoes. If you choose to eat here, it may be best to stick to simpler options like ribs or a burger. The service was good, and all the staff were polite.

Called in two nights running as it was so good. Good beer, good food, excellent choices on the menu and great friendly service, and of course resonably priced, thoroughly recommend it.
