The Getaway Cafe - South Lake Tahoe

BEST CAFE IN TAHOE!! We had an incredible experience here. During our week-long stay in Tahoe, my boyfriend, our puppy Cosmo, and I visited every day for breakfast. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS—we often enjoyed the French toast, eggs, and bacon, all cooked to perfection. The ambiance was fantastic, with everyone clearly having a great time. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Charming and spacious outdoor seating. The service is friendly, and the food is delightful! You can customize your own omelette. It's not a tourist trap at all.

The service was friendly, and we experienced a 30-minute wait at noon on a Friday in July. The patio seating was perfect for enjoying the lovely weather, and having dogs around added to the charm. We ordered the "Morning After," which included one biscuit with sausage gravy, two sausages, scrambled eggs, and extra crispy hash browns. The gravy was delicious, and the hash browns were cooked just the way we wanted. We also tried the triple-stacked turkey sandwich, accompanied by the soup of the day, which was zuppa toscana. The soup was excellent, and the sandwich was light and refreshingly tasty, featuring an amazing cranberry mayo spread. If you find yourself in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit.

If you're looking for amazing food, friendly service, and convenient location on your way into (or out of) town this is the place! My hubby and I were getting into town and looking for somewhere to eat before our tee time at Lake Tahoe Golf Course. Getaway Cafe was the first stop of our baby moon and we are big foodies so this really set the tone for our trip. With an hour to kill before our tee time we were crossing our fingers it would be a quick yummy experience and it didn't dissapoint. Diane the owner kindly greeted us right away and moved around the table and umbrellas in the outdoor area to ensure we were comfortable. The ambiance was super cute. She continued to check on me, I'm super pregnant which was thoughtful. I noticed she checked on everyone frequently, especially families with kiddos which is important to us. Family friendly places to eat are truly the best. Sam was our server he was so kind, funny and down to earth and continued to make sure we were taken care of consistently. My hubby ordered a salty dog, he said was great and tasted like fresh grapefruit juice. Onto the star of the show he ordered the special for the day... it should be a permanent menu item because it was truly a 10/10 that's a hard rating to come by for him and me. The chicken pesto vinaigrette sandwich was to die for!! Truly. I ordered the blackened chicken salad wrap with a side of cream of mushroom soup which was their soup of the day. The soup stole the show 9/10 SO good. The wrap was great but I regretted not double ordering the special chicken pesto sandwich. We will be back to explore the rest of the menu on our next visit into South Lake. Enjoy!!

So so yummy! There is a bit of a wait but totally worth it. And while waiting there is a coffee bar and a waiter comes around taking drinks orders. Everything is homemade and locally sourced. Best food I'd had in Tahoe. Customer service is great. Everyone was super friendly and kind. Including the owner who goes table to table.
