Had fish and chips and burgers followed by the biggest Eton mess! Good fish, decent chips and the dessert was really good. Pub grub yes but good atmosphere looking over the church.
Lovely food, would recommend the fish and chips, very crispy batter, lovely chips and proper mushy peas! All for £4.99, on a Wednesday. Also had a cheese and bacon burger and ham, egg and chips. Everything cooked perfectly. Lovely pub, in gorgeous location. Good choice of beers and gins too. Thank you. Will be visiting again.
Happened to pass by this little gem of a pub, thought we would stop in and have some lunch and so glad we did. The food was amazing, cooked by a chief called Harry and the barmaid Lettie was lovely, very helpful. Reason I got there names because I think the staff make the place and these two did a superb job. Well done to who ever owns this place. If you are in the area, stop by... well worth it. Great value... great food... great staff
We hadn't been here for years it was good years ago, then we had a bad experience, when in New hands again years ago, I will never return again after tonight s visit, from the moment we walked in, the waiting area looked poor logs for the log burner stored under the seating area, one other couple having a drink on a Saturday night, we were meeting friends and we were a little early, the only other couple we were making conversation with got chatting about how many nice places to eat in the area, then said your not eating here are you the didn't recommend it, wish we cancelled out booking then, but give it a go your never know, don't bother driving out very disappointing such a shame lovely location, but it's a small village you need to impress straight away to get people out to it, terrible hollow fish it was mainly better long weight fo our order, my husbands pie was dry very young staff i felt it for them it wasn't any fault of the very young waitresses, sorry to say never again we have a lot of nice places to eat in a radius.
I’m always a bit negative to places where you go to eat and it’s empty of diners and to be honest after this visit to the Wheatsheaf I will remain so. We had pre-booked but probably didn’t have to as the restaurant was empty when we arrived. Service was ok and quite friendly. Food was mediocre. We started by asking for The roast beef to be rare but this wasn’t possible as it all “comes one way”. I had chicken. A bit dry and one bit was rock hard. I’ve had better. Overall not the best Sunday lunch and the lack of diners on Easter Sunday perhaps indicates the status of the food offer. I won’t be rushing back. One other odd thing was a very limited wine list with no prices.
