Fryer Tucks Challaborough - South Hams

This place is great; there is a take away bar and a dine-in ‘shack’ (slightly off site to the holiday park). While we waited for our takeaway, we sat on benches which overlook the beach with lovely views. The food was made fresh and only waited 8 mins for a tasty meal. I ordered scampi and chips… scampi was good quality and chips were as chippy chips should be! The curry sauce was fresh and full of flavour. The owner was friendly and the dine-in area looked quaint with additional items on the menu, such as calamari. Good value for money. A lovely gem tucked away on the coast.

The worst chips ever! We waited in line for a good 20 minutes before placing our order, and during that time we opted for chips and sausage in batter because there was only one person working and we wanted something simple to avoid a long wait. Our order took 30-40 minutes to be ready, but we didn't mind as we were happy sitting outside near the beach. We were very excited to have chips by the beach, only to be disappointed by how terrible they were! The chips seemed to have been sitting in the fryer for too long, as they were chewy and flavorless. The sausage in batter was hard and dry. It was such a letdown, especially considering everyone had raved about how good they were and how they were better than the food at the campsites. Unfortunately, we have learned our lesson and will not be returning here again.

The food at Fryer Tucks is freshly cooked and delicious, with generous portion sizes. The owner is a friendly gentleman who enjoys chatting with and pleasing customers. The restaurant features a lovely seating area with views overlooking Challaborough beach. I highly recommend it.

Food is great.the owner is polite and very happy to chat with you. Prices are reasonable, but you are in a holiday park.Highly recommended

Omg they are soo good and the man that works there is an old man, a funny old man he is sucha good owner for his shop I love him I would highly recommend his food is is soo good and make sure you ask for LOTS of salt and vinegar makes is 10 times better . YUM
