The food available to purchase outside of the retaurant in the main Garden Centre aisles is very expensive even accepting that Garden Centre prices are usually over inflated. I accept that there will be a mark up so the 3rd party sellers also get a fair cut but it really is a bit steep. The plant prices are probably what you would expect from a Garden Centre. Pity as it would provide a nice alternative to the other main coffee/eatery place in Iver which is the Costa in the high street.
This garden centre has everything lots of plants, seeds, fertiliser, compost, bird seed etc. It would be good if there was a map somewhere as it's quite hard to find your way around because it's very big.
We went here yesterday as hadn't been for a while and last time they were doing up the restaurant. All I an say is we won't be going again. What used to be a nice place to get good food and a fab roast has become a overpriced coffee shop, with cake that looks like it fell out of Iceland, feeble looking pasties and expensive drinks which most of them they didn't seem to have). The decor is very strange and I'm sure the huge straw light shades that dangle over the drinks prep areas aren't very healthy they look like they could shed very easily. On the pluss side there were plenty of plants but seemed more expensive than other garden centres I've been to.
The garden centre itself was fantastic and I highly recommend it to anybody! We spent hours (and a fortune) wondering round looking at all of the amazing quality plants and beautiful homeware. We stopped in the cafe for lunch and we’re not disappointed. We both had toasties mine with gluten free bread which was fantastic. They couldn’t guarantee coeliac safe because of the environment but were sure to use fresh knives, chopping boards, gloves etc which was greatly appreciated and of no bother to them. The lady at the till even double checked my drink for me without me asking to make sure it was gluten free to be safe. Lots of cakes available including also some gluten free ones again. My friend had the biscoff cake which looked amazing and she raved about! I opted for fudge instead of cake but the options available for me did look lovely too. I’d say it’s fairly average prices for a garden centre cafe which are always slightly on the expensive side I would say. I paid around £9 for a toasted sandwich, canned drink and some fudge.
I understand that prices have gone up, but I was shocked to see that the price of a quiche with a small side salad has doubled from £3.95 to £6.95 at Flowerland Langley. They no longer include coleslaw or salad dressing, so you're getting less food for double the price. It feels greedy and like they are taking advantage of their customers. This is a garden centre after all, not a high-end restaurant. This kind of price hike is unacceptable and needs to stop.
