It is definitely not a roomy place but cozy and welcoming with the wooden walls that you expect from a mountain place, the characteristic big ceramic stove is exactly in the center of the main room, where it should be to warm top everyone. Most of the dishes have homemade ingredients or , at least , from the area. There is also a tiny shop just the next door with cheese from the surroundings, honey, liquors and all local specialties. Staff is smily and kind and you will find them running to the small shop to serve you! Price is coherent to quality and you will not regret the stop.
Going to the Veneto mountains? Do not forget to stop for a quick appetiser (meat balls or an unforgettable meal ending up with freshly made “zabaglione”, with a rich selection of wines. Taste also home made smoked trout (much better than smoked salmon! . And, if you drink too much and you cannot drive, you can sleep in renovated confortabile room, before continuing the journey safely from this historical stop over of mail officers where horses could be changed a couple of centuries ago.
The place offers really high-quality meals but with high prices as well. In the overall, I was satisfied with the lunch.
Must say that they are great! Tried by chance once, we stop always when we over there, so we tasted just about everything. It is located on a beautiful road linking touristic areas, but the landscape gem is just around the restaurant.The virtually unknown Prince Umberto waterfall, which can be reached with an easy climb of half an hour and leaves you open-mouthed with the view of the waterfall from a hole in the vault of a large cave! Local derived from a post station, it keeps the very pleasant Austro-Hungarian style. In plates the choice is almost embarrassing, excellent all those tested. If you are fond of culinary traditions here are the tips: rolled marinated veal with onions (6 Euros , chestnuts pasta with braised pheasant (8 € , deer stew with polenta (12.50 € or Schiz cheese with polenta (8.50 € . The desserts (I 've tasted them all... are all great and homemade, but the top is certainly the grilled eggnog with biscuits (4.50 euro . Fair prices, almost low. Immense selection of wines from all over Italy and abroad and for all budgets.
Reliable option along the road that takes you from Belluno to Agordo. Lovely restaurant and easy parking along the road. Traditional cuisine with some original twist. The vitello with onions was interesting and really good. They are famous for their zabaione but unfortunately you can only order it for a minimum of four people!
