The atmosphere is what sets the tone of the meal, stuffed with memorabilia and knick-knacks it 's a great laid back place, right down to and including the spider webs you can see here or there up on the 15 foot high ceiling. It is not a "fancy "place,so take it for what it is,nor is it a gourmet restaurant,it is how ever 100% a French country style place! Just get the menu of the day it at lunch time, and don 't expect anything like a Vegan option, service is slow(as it should be) the owner is a colorful guy,and It 's kind of hard to see from the outside because of all the vines growing over the building, almost blocking the door!
This is a very traditional looking establishment with interesting decorations, and going from reviews we thought it would be worth a visit. My wife started with a walnut salad which can only be described as a few leaves from a packet with some walnuts on top, we had expected some other garnishes in that salad. My starter of cold meats was fairly good. Our mains were a little better, my wife had the cassoulet though the sausage was quite small and didn 't have that much flavour. My main dish was a slow cooked meat with potatoes, it was ok but lacked any real flavour. The desserts were truly awful I had a chocolate gateaux which was more like 2 slabs of uncooked chocolate cake with some cream poured on the side. My wife ordered floating islands and the meringues were not edible. For 48 euros including one glass of beer and a coke we felt this was too much. Also, my wife noticed, that there was no toilet seat in the ladies toilet, I know this restaurant perhaps likes to hark back to olden times but there 's no need to feel you 're stepping back into 1700 AD in the toilet.
We ate here after a visit to the Musee Dom Robert. Whilst the €12 euro bargain lunch deal was not available on Saturday, we had the fixed menu and had a great time soaking up the atmosphere and feeling like we’d been transported to 1950’s France! Great local food.
An atypical setting of an inn. Two menus at 16 and 25 euros of wine included in the good quality. The service is attentive, warm.,personnali, personality
Very Surprise to read your good comments on reception and quality!! Perhaps today was not the good day, but we will not return!!! Yes, very atypical places only point with which I am ok ... (although not very clean) on the other hand, a reception and a service leaving more than to be desired, a great coldness, arrogant, reflections to the questions of customers on the sanitary pass (uncontrolled) and masks! Choose a omelette for 2 people served in a dish with a serving for 1 person 1/2.... , hot, half cooked and white... at the same time 30 €... with a vulgar salad of sachets... Dessert to 6 €, chocolate cake served with 2 C a soup (not more ) of English cream without any taste.... To finish CB... and no goodbye... We're not coming back to Fuire!
