Thanks for raining this morning and no one was sitting outside. We had no problem sitting outside and they were kind enough to accommodate us. Grant led us through the wines. The tasting was wonderful and the wines were very nice. Ends up buying quite a few bottles. Very recommended.
We enjoyed our wine tasting this afternoon in Walt Sonoma. I came here with my wife and mother. It was a perfect day to sit outside on the terrace and enjoy our wine flight. Grant was attentive and informative, but not overlaid at all. After tasting here on many occasions this was our best experience by far. Next time we come back, I would definitely ask for the award as our winemaker at the next visit.

We were in the Walt in Napa, but over the road from the Oxbow we decided to give the Sonoma site a spin since we were in the area. The tasting is more or less the same that you start with a glass of Chardonnay, then on 4 single vineyard Pinot Noirs by Willamette (OR), Anderson Valley (Menodocino), Petaluma Gap (Sonoma) and Santa Rita Hills (Santa Barbara). As with the Napa site, winemakers are not only aware of Walt wines, but also about vineyards, vineyards and even AVAs. If you are in Pinot Noir and interested to see how different clones are expressed differently in different regions in the wines, you will really enjoy tasting at Walt. For me personally, although I love exploring Pinot from Oregon to Santa Barbara, the winemaking style is not my favorite. These are some very lush, high-alcoholic Pinots, which are located in 15.1% (The Corners, Anderson Valley) Dry Creek zin area and some of the elegance and expressions of Terroir are simply exaggerated by very dominant fruits, new French oak and explosive alcohol. I can understand that many people love this style of Pinot, but it gave me palate tiredness quite fast. That means if you are looking for a tasting or two in your day trip to Sonoma, you will be blown away from the hospitality and learn more than you ever know about different Pinot clones, diurnal shifts and how Terrain can affect it, soil composition, etc. A tasting experience, even though I wasn't the biggest fan of the wines.
It was nice to have learned the difference among Pinot Noirs grown in the various terrain and weather along with the West Coast. Good presentaion and wines.
