La Hacienda Mexican Grill - Sonoma

This is the place to get Mexican food in Sonoma. Friendly staff, good food, and so accommodating. Burritos are a must have, and the chili verde meal is my personal favorite.

My family and I ordered takeout from this place this evening, and overall our food was decent. However, the only letdown was my husband's dish. He chose the Dos Amigos, which is a shrimp and scallop meal, and for $18.99, it didn’t quite look appealing.

I can only comment on the food we ordered, as I can't speak for the other dishes. We tried the grilled veggie plate, and unfortunately, the vegetables seemed like the standard frozen mix that everyone keeps in their freezers – they looked like they had just been briefly grilled without any seasoning whatsoever. The beans were similarly bland and unseasoned. At $15 a plate, I would have expected at least a sprinkle of salt or some kind of seasoning. On a positive note, the guacamole was quite good, and our server was very friendly. I assume most people don’t come here specifically for the vegetables, but if the veggies are frozen, it raises concerns about the freshness of the rest of the menu, which I suspect might also be thawed before grilling. I would happily return if they revamped their practices, as the atmosphere and the staff were lovely.

I've always been a fan of La Hacienda, but I'm not sure if it's because prices have increased and quality has decreased. I ordered the macho burrito, but it seemed quite basic to me, especially since it usually tastes better than a regular burrito. I'm not sure if you now have to ask for chips and salsa, but my burrito could have really used them.

*AVOID DELIVERY – THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY'VE BEEN DISAPPOINTING* We stayed at the Sonoma Inn hotel and ordered takeout. Unfortunately, they forgot to include condiments and chips for the guacamole. When I inquired, they blamed the driver and said they would charge us a dollar for the chips. As a result, we had guacamole but nothing to eat it with, and no utensils for our other food. When we called to address the issue, they seemed indifferent. I rarely write negative reviews, as I usually try to be understanding, but this establishment clearly doesn't value customer feedback.
