Royal Bengal Restaurant - Somerville

During a recent visit to the restaurant with my parents, I had the opportunity to converse with the cook in Bengali, my native language. She appeared to be a friendly individual. However, after a short while, the manager, possibly the owner's wife, scolded the cook and instructed her to return to the kitchen for speaking directly to the customers. This incident made us feel uncomfortable, but we chose not to react. Eventually, the cook informed us that one of our ordered items was not fresh and recommended changing it, which we appreciated. Upon learning of this, the manager proceeded to berate the cook harshly, causing us further discomfort and annoyance. Despite this, we remained silent throughout. When the bill arrived, it did not reflect the changes we had made to our order, prompting me to request a correction. This resulted in yet another outburst from the manager towards the cook. Additionally, the manager's husband entered the restaurant at some point and joined in the shouting directed at the cook, displaying rude behavior. Feeling concerned for the cook's well-being, I attempted to contact the authorities, but my parents advised against pursuing the matter, deeming it not serious enough to involve the police. However, I feel compelled to share this incident with others by posting it on various review platforms such as Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google, and OpenTable. Thank you.

Royal Bengal is a hidden gem with delicious food at affordable prices. Despite its unassuming location, the interior is cozy and inviting. Our group of three foodies thoroughly enjoyed the Bengali specials. It's a great spot to enjoy a fantastic meal with friends, and they even offer take-out for those on the go.

This is the best Indian food I have ever had in the Boston area. The service was great, the dishes were incredibly flavorful, and the prices were reasonable. I highly recommend checking this place out.

While in the restaurant with my parents had the opportunity to speak with the chef in my mother tongue (bengali). she seemed a really nice lady. mins in the conversation, the manager of the restaurant (possibly wife of the owner) began to spray the cook and asked her to come back to the kitchen. she called her because she spoke directly to the customers. we felt a little strange after this incident, but we didn't react. after about minutes the same chef came out and said that one of the ordered items was not fresh, so we should change it. we were very worthy of their care and immediately changed the order. when the manager knew about it, she went back to the kitchen and began to spray the chef very badly. she was so loud that we could hear every single word she has said. we felt very uncomfortable and a little upset at the reaction of the owner. we still did not react and stayed calm. at the end when the waiter brought us the reception, he did not reflect the changes we had made in the order, so I suggested that they should correct it. after the change, the manager cried back to the cook. the manager (mann des managers) had also crashed into the restaurant some time ago. He also began screaming at the poor chef and was very rude to her. I almost feared if he hit her. we haven't seen anything but hearing everything. I called the Somerville police and asked for police officers, but it went to their voicemail. then my parents advised me not to pursue this, as they said it was not serious enough to report the police. I still feel responsible for telling everyone about this incident and thus posting. I will publish this to every portal yelp, trip, google and open table!

Great eating, cheap, in a surprising location. one expects no more than a place with seating, but the interior of royal bengal is welcoming and comfortable. our group of three demanding, experienced diners was particularly pleased with the Bengali specialties. a good place to enjoy an excellent meal with friends. Take-out is available for those in a hurry.
