Pennypacker's - Somerville

I’m currently on a mission to discover the best fried chicken sandwich in Massachusetts, and I have to say, Pennypackers does not let me down. The chicken is outstanding—crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. The biscuit is just as delightful. While the cabbage has a slightly greasy texture, it offers some intriguing flavors, especially from the spring onions. Overall, it’s a great choice!

The Porketta sandwich transported me right back to my mother's kitchen. It was such a delightful experience! While it wasn't quite as pronounced in fennel flavor as hers, it still evoked wonderful memories.

We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and the picture doesn't do it justice. It was incredibly delicious, with marinated tomatoes and avocado on a flavorful bun. I will definitely be returning for this soon—no doubt about it! 10/10!

Got the Porchetta sandwich, and it was pretty freaking tasty. They've been at that location for 5 years and rotate the menu quarterly, but the Porchetta sandwich has always stayed. Service takes a bit longer, because they prepare all orders from scratch. Staff was very friendly and did not hesitate to answer any questions I had. There's not a whole lot of seating inside. They also have soups and broths that you can take home and cook with or eat.

Fried chicken sandwich and meatloaf sandwich were amazing!!! Best sandwich I've ever had! The chicken was crispy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside. Came with a parsnip and apple puree I couldn't get enough of! Ciabatta bread was perfect and also crispy outside but soft inside. Ate at home and added a little mayo to each to top it off. Can tell this place is high quality. Will definitely come back!!
