Wild Ginger - Somerset

The impact of COVID and the rise of remote work have negatively affected many local restaurants, as they used to rely heavily on the lunchtime crowd from nearby offices. Unfortunately, many have had to temporarily adjust their hours and focus solely on takeout. We often find ourselves eagerly waiting to place our order as soon as they open. It's important to show our support and help keep these wonderful establishments in business!

I dined here twice after my last visit six years ago, and I must say that this is the best Chinese restaurant in Somerset. While other restaurants have cut corners due to the rising cost of ingredients, Wild Goer has maintained its standards. The owners are pleasant, the food is delicious, and the portions are generous. They also offer some well-made Thai dishes on the menu.

When I arrived to pick up my order, the woman at the counter was friendly at first. She asked for my order number, and I provided the code I received when I ordered online. After she went to check on my order, she returned and asked for my phone number instead. I found her tone to be quite harsh. I explained that I thought she wanted my order code. After I gave her my phone number, she went back again and came back to tell me that they couldn’t find my order. I tried to explain that my card was charged for the order, but she told me she was busy. I insisted that my card had been charged by the restaurant. When I attempted to show her proof of my online order, she became upset and raised her voice, which I had to address several times. I made it clear that I didn't appreciate being yelled at, regardless of how busy they were. In the end, I had to cancel my credit card because of the situation. Although I ended up buying food from somewhere else, I am still upset by how I was treated. Even as she thanked me while I was waiting, I couldn't shake off the negative experience.

This is a nicely decorated upscale Chinese restaurant, but we went there for take-out only. The food was great and the prices were very reasonable. It's on my list to re-visit again. I recommend it highly.
