Freddy's Sports - Somerset

I love this place. Was very close to the hotel where I stayed and went there several times with my friends. Typical Irish sports bar decorated with all major American sports team logos. They store a lot of craft beer.

Better than Ruby Tuesdays on the street. The food is OK the burgers are the best on the menu.

Fantastic restaurant! I can't praise the food and staff enough. I visit regularly and have noticed many positive updates to the menu. The new additions are wonderful! The atmosphere is fantastic, and my husband and I are eagerly awaiting the start of football season! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. It's always a pleasure to dine at Freddy's! Keep up the great work!

Good neighborhood pub. My husband and I visited Freddys twice last month. We moved into a few blocks and were worried to try something so close at home. The first visit was on a Sunday evening and when the bar was full, we sat at a small table in the bar. I was pleasantly excited to see a veggie burger (I am a newcomer vegan under one year and yes, I am going out here and there). My husband ordered the Cobb Salad. Everyone in the bar seemed very friendly. The hubs loved the salad! Said the chicken was incredibly fresh and tender. I noticed that there was no red onion in it and he agreed that although it had been a nice supplement, he could really not find a mistake with it. My Veggie Burger was better than average. It was from the Dr. Praeger's varied vegetables and not the way-too-much-cumin Sojaburger or fried Reisburger, which I often find out. Next time I will ask them to grill the bungalow and cook the burger until crispy. I had the sweet potato fries and Slav as sides. Both were excellent. Our second visit was on Monday night as we were thirst for Shock Tops, but they were out. There were other beers. Sat in the bar this time and again everyone found very pleasant. We really hadn't planned to order food, but all around us had brought out food and quite honestly, the smells have laid us in and we ordered the bar pizza. Far from big pizza, for which Jersey is known (I just moved from Cincinnati, where they can't make pizza) I have to say it really hit the spot. It had the thinst crust I ever saw, and the sauce was tasteful and slightly sweet. A great appetizer. No complaints in the service. Friendly and efficient. We look forward to the return often!

A Good Place for Lunch. Although you wouldn't think it, there aren't a great number of places around Easton Ave in Somerset to eat, other than fast food and pizzerias. Thankfully Freddy's has opened and given us an alternative. Located just off of World's Fair Drive, it's convenient for the many businesses in the area and perfect for meeting friends. I met friends there for lunch today, and had a very enjoyable meal. Dark wood floors, walls and tables provide low key ambience. The primary feature is the multitude of large and small flat screen TVs, today focused on the World Cup (well, it is a sports bar . The large rectangular bar to the left, the dining room to the right, is separated by a cut-through wall. Our waitress was pleasant and quick to provide preferences regarding the menu. Try the chili. With large pieces of steak and a minimum of beans (not my favorite, it was served lukewarm, but was fine after a quick warm-up. Be prepared, the bowl of chili is a really big bowl. The Cobb salad was fresh and crisp with nice big pieces of avocado. My Chicken Cordon Bleu Panini was very good, with crisp seasoned fries. My other dining companions enjoyed the beef brisket sandwich, with sweet potato fries, at our waitress' advice. Drinks were refilled quickly. We were in no rush to eat, and our meal was served at a leisurely pace, although I'm sure that if we were on a schedule, that would have been accommodated. Aside from the chilly chili, a problem that was quickly remedied, we had an enjoyable, unhurried meal.
