I had DEVINE grilled shrimps on a skewer (in fact the best shrimp I ever had, delicious scallops, flounder, crab cake, mahoi, plus ribs that just fell from the bone, incredibly tasteful brisket pulled pork. Also the pages were super amazing maize bread “Cowboy Beans”, which for to die. This place seems so easy from the outside to be unintentional (in the road at the bridge btwn Somers Point Longport but it turns out that this super-chill/relaxed vibe, like a small tropical oasis on the bay. Idk someone would wait elsewhere in an hour-long line just to sit in a busy, loud, dark restaurant if you can bring your own cooler of drinks sitting outside at Backbay BBQ soaking in warm weather fresh air next to the lagoon of Backbay. Owners of the restaurant even held on our table to ensure that we have a great experience, so the super friendly customer service was an additional bonus. HIGHLY recommend this little hidden gem (I almost hate to show it to all others!
Back Bay Barbeque is a small family-run barbeque business, the homemade barbeque and sides offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. This place is located right on Longpoint Somers Point Boulevard in Somers Point, New Jersey. They have a colorful backyard with outdoor seats and an air conditioning inside with plenty of space for big party's playing country music that matches the bbq mood. The food was okay and drinks could have been better, but a big thing that this place for them is that you can bring your own alcohol! You don't have an alcohol license here, but that doesn't let you stop drinking if you want to bring yourself. I would recommend coming here, but maybe away from some things I mention below. My wife and I shared the BBQ sample plate, the pulled pig, cut bovine breeze, white or dark meat chicken (we have dark), and three ribs. The portions here are generous and for $22 for the record we felt defy as if we had earned our money. They even gave us an extra rib, so we have four instead of three. Not sure whether this is for purpose or what, but was still appreciated. We also have Mac and cheese, beans, onion rings and potato salad as sides and lemonade as a drink. To begin with the good, the pulled pig and the chicken were my favorite. The pig swimming in sauce and juices and was very tasteful. The chicken was not dry and had good taste. The ribs were good and you can pull the bone directly from the flesh, which is always a good sign. The baked beans were good and came with much as a side, so there was much to share. I also really like their onion rings, as it is my style with a light but crunchy bread and thin onion. I really liked her cornbread because it had a nice sweetness and was a beautiful size. Their barbeque sauce they have was delicious and supplements the food well. They even have a spicy bbq they offer, and it burned my mouth, but not terrible, so it's a victory for me. Now the bad, although the pig was my favorite, there were some pieces that were hard and very chewing. Not much of it was like that, but it was still in there. The brisket was thought a bit and was a bit tough and chewing. I feel like it was overcooked. There were thin, delicate slices, but more of the thick hard stuff. The Mac and the cheese had a good taste, but was dry and was not cheesy as it said in the menu. Mac and cheese should have a sauce, but it seems that we served Mac, which was made days ago, soaking the sauce in the noodles, and the cheese was slightly congealed. Definitely not fresh. The potato salad was ok, but also did not taste fresh and was also dry for potato salad. It could have used some salt and more Mayo. My lemonade was also on the acid side. It could have used more sugar to cut the acid and tarity it had. And finally, I had asked for sweet tea, but they didn't have any?? Which bbq place does not serve sweet tea?! This is a bracket with bbq! Overall, if you choose the right things and maybe you go there on a weekend when it's busy, you might have some luck here with the food. It is not the best, but not the worst bbq Ive and the friendly service and portions definitely for their missing card to their food. In the end, people come back for dinner, so I'd like it on a Notch Back Bay Barbeque. Food 3 atmosphere 5 service 5 total 4 Follow me for more reviews throughout America
Five. Stars everywhere! Probably the best melt in your mouth, perfectly smoked pastrami I've ever had. The onion rings will ruin you as in you do not want to get them anywhere else if you have this crispy, non-fat rings of pleasure. At the point, pork and fresh, ice-cold iced tea pulled. Bonus, waiting staff, I speak about you Hannah, were friendly, informative and attentive. The great man, master BBQer and the whole sorcerer of the smoker himself stopped at our table to say hello. You should go.
I was very impressed by her pulled pork sandwich Oh, it came as a separate thing where the bread was in a container and way more pulled pork than you could ever put on the bread in another container, and the taste of the pulled pork was excellent it reminded me of a spicer version of a Carolina barbecue. One negative is that their cowboy beans were basically when I had to guess Heinz beans from a can without special promotion. While they tasted well, they lacked this little extra zip, like some of the pulled pigs or brisket to them or even some corn or onions. I don't care if I got the same food again because I put my left pig in the beans.
