It was not busy (Monday, after Easter), but I can imagine that this place is packed on weekends. The goodies all looked incredibly delicious, but I couldn't try them all I bought a almond and another almond thing. I can't remember the name. The tart was amazing, the other one was... okay. I wish I had more time to spend there, and rooms in my stomach to try them all.
So... I was there a few days and had pastirs somewhere else, and this place had by far the freshest pasties we had down there while there. and the staff so attentive and super nice. Place has a great story behind it! We left with boxes of baked goods to bring home and even freeze one. We enjoyed our visit there and learn about the story about them, the 75 years ago I started beleive . Take a look in and enjoy a pastry.. Remember that everyone has different tastes .. get what looks delicious!
This is definitely worth stopping for pastries! If you go back to the wine country or down from the central coast to SoCal, you cannot go wrong with some Danish or bear claw. The pastries were moist and tasteful, and the almond paste in the bear claw was generous enough portioned, and not excessively sweet. As a reference we also picked up comparable pastries from the Danish mill, and Birkholms were significantly better.
There are many bakeries here in Solvang, but hands down, this is our favorite. The pastries here are beyond my wildest dreams. Not only do they look good, but taste amazing.
Very nice service. You walk in and the place smells like an aroma of delicious coffee and sweets right in front of you will have your taste buds going!! A must try!
