Great spot! Guacamole was delicious. Salsa is a little on spicy side but great. Didn't get any other food but had a pitcher of strawberry margaritas on the rocks and they don't go light on alcohol (stayed in hotel across street) will definitely stay close again next year to go there again.
I have rode past this place numerous times in hopes of trying it one day. Literally pulled out of the Taco Bell line when realizing this place was a couple minutes away. I had such high hopes! The atmosphere of the restaurant is very beautiful and welcoming! Very clean! The young guy taking my to-go order customer service could have been much better! He was too focused on whatever he was doing on his phone! I ordered a meal that consisted of a chicken tamale, beef chicken tostado, on a bed of beef and chicken nachos, with sour cream, guac, and tomatoes. Food looked decent but surprisingly ABSOLUTELY NO TASTE!! I was in disbelief! The tamale was disgusting! It was like mushy potatoes with tomato paste chicken inside. The beef and chicken had no flavor at all. They price a tiny cup of salsa to use with the dry food. Believe it or not I went back to Taco Bell for sauce. If you like flavorless food. Have at it! I don't think I will be back. $18 for flavorless food is a big no for me!
Cannot compare to a Cozumel on the west side. Very skimpy on the rice. But if you are in the mood for Mexican it will suffice.
Ordered the chimichangas and mezcal mojito. Chimichangas were good, portions were fine. Burritos were on the smaller side but taste was excellent, sauce especially. Props for having El Yucateco on the table, someone knows their spice. Mezcal mojito tastes a bit like licking the inside of a flat tire and band aids... so... shockingly authentic. I thought they'd use a crowd pleaser mezcal but nope. Expect a flavor somewhat between tequila and scotch. Pleasant if you sip it slow, has a nice buzz. Atmosphere is eye rollingly over the top, the papel picado is a lot. I get it though. Advice to the owner: the bulbs you have in the ceiling fans have a low color rendering index it makes colors look muted, which makes the food look more dull. I can tell that you're trying to liven the place up with lots of color but if you want the color to pop, use high CRI lights. Compare the colors under spot lighting you have pointed at the walls and the color of stuff under the ceiling fans and you'll see what I mean.
