The Place To Eat - Solihull

We went to this restaurant for some cake and coffee, but unfortunately the cleaning staff, especially one man, kept staring at us and hovering nearby to rush us out as they were closing in 10 minutes. A tip for anyone visiting this place - avoid coming 20 minutes before closing time!

We called into The Place to Eat situated in the John Lewis store in Touchwood for coffee and a scone, lovely cup of coffee and fruit scone,the lady assistant warmed our scones, Very nice friendly staff.

While the quality of food and drinks is good, this is quite an expensive option for a snack lunch while shopping in Solihull. It is also noisy as it is made up of all hard surfaces and a previous reviewer is right in commenting on uncleared tables, which give a poor impression.

Looking for some breakfast, we arrived at The Place to Eat in John Lewis just in time before lunch. It was quite amusing, to say the least. The full English breakfast included bacon, sausage, choice of egg, baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns, and toast. The fun started when we were told to choose 3 meat items, so we went with 2 bacon and 1 sausage. What followed was two shriveled tomatoes, beans that needed some crust breaking off, and eggs that had to be fried not once, not twice, but three times! We requested white toast, which also took two attempts to get right. We were told they had to go upstairs for hash browns, so we opted for more meat instead. At the register, I was asked which egg option I had chosen, although I had no other option besides fried. Overall, the breakfast tasted okay and the experience certainly brightened my day. However, I may think twice about returning for a full English breakfast next time.

This is a great place to dine at, very tidy and has all amenities in one spot. Parking is conveniently located below the center and is reasonably priced. There are plenty of options for dining including Pizza Hut, Bella Italia, and many burger joints. The restaurant stays open late for your convenience.
